Tek Nyn Society - What the Funk iz up?

Tek-Nyn-Society was a group of kids from around the okalona area in the early 90's. I went to school with Detrick aka Trick Ice aka 3 and another kid Chris who went by Zero. When I'd Stay at my gradnmothers I'd ride the same bus as them. As always I'd have the walkman on and started talking to them about hip hop when they asked what I was listening to. I remember giving them a copy of a beat tape.. no originals stuff off the b-sides of other singles etc..

Later on we battled. My homie DJ Los bet these kids his turntables vs. thier reverb machine. I wasn't there and appaerntly they got into a heated arguement over who the better MC was between Zero and myself.. Ls threw a huge ass house party and we battled.. Trick came in with a keyboard and looped up a segment of more bounce to the ounce and we set off on each other. I gotta admit I wish we had been battling for that keyboard because it would be years later until I touched any production equipment. I WISH I had gotten started that early.. but instead after the house voted and a fight almost broke out we won a reverb that I have no idea whatever happened too?

The next time I saw Detrick he borrowed some music from me.. the Souls of mischief blue cassette the pharcyde maxi single with unreleased song PORK onit which Trick listened to and emulated by playing the melody himself on that same keyboard I think.. but you'll deffly recognize the lift.. He flipped easy and real quick like.. I remmeber being impressed with how quick he flipped the melody and didn't even use a sample outright at I if I recall right.. I never did get my cassettes back.Well, that sample would be the cornerstone to a local favorite "Whatthafunk is up?" backed with "the Sounds of the Nyn".

Trick brought a triple tounge style that no one else had at the time and a nasal tone flow that was part b-real part al b sure.. but dope nonetheless. This cassette sold out at camelot. record town and was played while MANY a kid cruised Preston. I saw a lot of copies of that fresh blue metalic tape. I'd also lke to mention M&M did production on this piece and called himself that waaaaaay before any of us knew of Mr. Mathers.(and the group Tek Nyn proceeded the MC Tech Nyn too)

Infinite evol - adamantium lyrics

Well it seems I addicted to converting my tapes today. I guess I may as well drop another rare indie Hip Hop cassette from Cincinatti. :)
This one comes from Infinite Evol an MC I am familiar with due to his 1997 Scribble Jam appearance. After seeing him live I ran acrossed this self distributed gem at a spot on Vine Street called KowTow. I knew it would be unique from the afore mentioned battles I saw him in and I was right.
With a Supernaturalesque vocal growl Infinate actually goes off on this tape as several characters. A Cobra Commander like soldier of Hip Hop... an MC with a Weapon X style back ground... The whole tape reflects his affection for cartoons & comics from the Wolverine/X-men inspired title and graphics to Transformers sampled music. Infact it feels as if this tape should have come with it's own Power Records style comic. Unfortunatly for you and I it did not.
I wish I could tell you more about the MC himself but I havn't heard anything since this tape. If anyone has any info feel free to share.

1995: What a summer part II

As promised part 2 of today's uploads Hen x the Stile - Reason for Paranoia
This piece of artifact is held down by the wose sage known as I-9 as he interlude's you through the 2 sides of this coin.. The Hen X side and the Dem Nigguhz side. The first side was Hen's solo material. Again the beats are boom bap to the fullest with some ill strings and loops here and there. I know a gang of the samples came off a mix tape I had made that Hen borrowed. The next day he said I chopped your tape up... I thought it was ruined but he only meant he had made another tape of samples he would later use on this cassette... All of which he flipped lovely.
Again he gives you a bonus beat and as I said the un-labeled skits and then on side 2 he gets busy with the crew Dem Nigguz, Geddo Tounges, Tribe 7 etc. I'll be bringing you some of those songs later if people are into these... I'd say there are at least 10 to 12 other tapes I have with these crew members that are as dope or better than these two and that's a high bar standard if you ask me.
1995... If I could go back I would and shit would be a loooooooooooot different. I'd quit my job and go for broke. ha ha... once again repect this cassette as one of the earlier archives of some of the BEST 502 hip hop ever.
1995: What a summer.

Today I'm dropping 2 cassette rips both from 40219's finest crew then called Dem Nigguhz later to be called Unstoppable. The first one here is from 502's own Melle Mel the Grand Incredible O.N.E.

This is a CLASSIC ville tape. Production from Father Jah aka Hen X the Stile & Dat Nigguh Wes for Gheddo Minded Productions keeps to the classic Boom Bap style. O.N.E. brings an Old School style to the mic that was rough rugged & raw and dope as f&#k. I saw him do many a live set based on this tape and let me tell you he ripped everyone of these tracks as hard live if not harder. That tape: Return of the Old School featuring the DN crew members I-9, Sean D, Jon Doe the Stick Up-Kid, Jaques Cousteau, Wreck D. Mic, Sandman, Crash DDZ & Black Lotus affiliate Chill.

If there were a VHS1 Hip Hop legends show based on the Ville O.N.E. would be the first inductee hands down. One of my all time favorite local tapes (and not just because it featured my 1st appearance on tape either) because this is when crews ran tight and this was before the B.S. that tore apart more than a few friendships. All respect due to the anchor and mentor of many a dope MC from Brewburg (Newburg). Stay tuned for another tape by Hen X the Stile called Reason for Paranoia also featuring the DN crew members I-9, Sean D, Stick Up-Kid, Jaques Cousteau, Wreck D. Mic & Sandman.

I'll drop more soon. I'm doing this out of respect for the music & the hustles we all went through back then. Here's to the good old school days.
